This Saturday, 23rd November, my youngest sister and I did something that I’ve wanted to do for many years. No, we didn’t go desert trekking, kayaking or any of those other things that are supposed to be on every 20-something’s bucket list. No, in our family we like to a live a little more on the edge, and so bright and early on Saturday morning we set off down the road to the Twisted Thread Knitting and Stitching Show at the International Centre in Harrogate!
We spent a good few hours browsing all the lovely stalls, filled to the brim with the sort of bits and pieces that make you go ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’. I believe that they’re the same bits and pieces that make you want to touch everything just to see what it feels like (I refer specifically to the alpaca-fur teddy bears!). But words don’t really do the show justice – so instead here are a few photos of my very favourite things from the Knitting and Stitching Show 2013!

And the best part of the entire day? Seeing the touring Knitivity, of course! My mum has had one of these on her windowsill every Christmas ever since I can remember. However her knitivity is only 5 inches high…

Yes! I did! Had a lovely breakfast in Betty’s first! Sadly I had spent up in the first 20 mins! I got some lovely fabric though. My disappointment was not buying a lovely felt doll kit from AK traditions. I decided to buy one on my way out…..and they didn’t take cards! Boo! Imagine I might have shuffled past you! 😃

That’s exciting! My family live in Harrogate so unfortunately no Betty’s breakfast for me – just toast at home! It’s my birthday soon so my mum very kindly gave me some money to choose my own birthday present – I picked the fairisle cushion kit that’s in my picture, but chose a deep purple and cream rather than the red. I was very restrained with the purchases!

I have the Jean Greenhowe pattern for the knitivity and it’s on my list of things to make. I love the Tour de France quilt, if I could quilt like that I’d make a Thomas the Train one for my son. Glad you had fun.

The Jean Greenhowe nativity is the one my mum has! I have the pattern from her and, as with you, it’s on the never-ending to-do list. The Tour de France quilt was incredibly detailed – made by a very talented lady!

I think this decade might be the decade I knit the Nativity. I’ve had the pattern since I was 12 and it’s been on the list for the past 20 years.
