It’s a little early to be celebrating Roald Dahl Day (that’s on 13th September) but Roald Dahl was (and still is) such an inspiration to children and adults everywhere that I think he needs celebrating every day of the year. If you haven’t already, check out the book ‘Fantastic Mr Dahl’ by Michael Rosen – it’s a great insight into the life of the man behind the BFG, Matilda and James and his Giant Peach. Plus it has some great illustrations by Quentin Blake which are just as lovely!
This quote originates from Roald Dahl’s book, The Twits, and reads: “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
Since we decorated the spare room I’ve got lots of old frames lying around that I can do a bit of painting and/or decoupage with. And what better way to start the day than waking up and seeing a positive message and a couple of happy giraffes? (Alright, I might leave the giraffes out, though it’ll be a shame to see them go!)
